Tell us how to improve the blogs

As you might have noticed, we made a few changes
(perhaps even upgrades) to the blogs this past
weekend. Changes were: 3x faster page loads,
basic polls, some minor formating changes on
the main page, watch blogs/posts with changes
since your last visit now show up in yellow,
and real-time viewing of posts for and by
premium members (beta mode). Our development
team had been busy with some site intergrations
(fastcupid.com and fastcupid.com but are now back
100% on improving this site. We want your
opinions on what you'd like to see in the
blogs. For non-blog ideas, please
either email me or use the feedback form (yes,
we read and compile each email).

Some ideas I've had or heard (and are prioritizing):
- preview button so you can see a post before you post them
- ability to edit a post you did on another blog (maybe)
- background graphic or color settings (blogs & posts)
- audio/video posts
- ability to upload photos in each blog post and reply
- ability to link to photo2-5 in your profile (coming 3/15)
- access to "fans" of blogs (or to see a list of people who
say they are the fan of the blog)
- show which posts where someone has replied after you
- more custom ways to quote someone else
- quizes (multiple question polls with 'results')
- ways to tag blogs with keywords so people can find them more easily
- quick link from main page to your blog (coming this week)
- more HTML like commands (such as tables, photo placement)
- skin/designs formats you can choose for your blog
- turn off the 3 digits needed to post (if you are a super blogger)

- Ability to turn off smilies (or at least smarter system to identify them)

I don't see the need in the polls! Or your popularity list!!!

NSAAddict 49M

All the suggestions above would be great. I can add these:
- not a fan of the unique responses list, a lot of great male bloggers are buried because of it.

- Background changes and more html flexibility would be great.

-The most recent comments by others also needs to be updated, sometimes people will post a comment in an old blog and I never know unless I go searching through blogs for new comments.

- Also some kind of alert bell when you get a new comment or your post goes through would be great for those times I'm surfing during the wait. Thanks for the changes and the willingness to keep upgrading!

Andrew replies on 11/3/2006 1:36 pm:
I've added a few more HTML commands for the 3/15
release - things like tables, colors, formatting.

Andrew replies on 12/3/2006 8:49 pm:
Yes, I want to add the ability to better see what is new
since the last time you looked at posts.

jadedbabe78 113M

5/3/2006 3:15 pm

The fact that several 'recent' posts stick for hours and then all of a sudden, a bunch of new posts post hours after the blogger wrote them. Same goes for the comment. Blogs with recent posts get don't have a chance when this happens, at times. Also, a blogger can leave a comment and it won't 'show up' on one blog for several hours and then turn around and post a comment on another blog and it shows up instantly.

Faster results on a more regular basis. Some days, it's great...other days, it sucks.

Not that it matters to me anymore since I am deleting my blog and profile in the next couple of days and never coming back but what pissed me most off about the blogs is that members can't blog about what they want.

The popularity list has always been a joke to me. Of course the same people will always be the most popular if they are always listed on the front. Why not do it like the pics, instead of the most popular blogs (most commented on or most woted on polls), show a list of a few random blogs on the front page or a link to go to a random blog of the day or something.

This is probably my last comment on any blog on here.

The polls that you added are just a gimick, but okay you must have your reason's.

I would assume that half of my posts this weekend, which have not showen up, are because of the formating changes that have gone on, so lets hope they do show up, since I took the time to write them!

I would like the see the feature added that we can delete or change our posts to another's blog. At times that would be a very usefull tool, since now in several blogs since it took them two days to show up the first time, I reposted and now look like a complete idiot for posting twice, until the blog owner takes one down.

The site briefly had a tool bar for posting comments in blogs yesterday afternoon, from what I saw of those features, font, colour, etc that I would like to see added. It lends itself to being creative, which most who use the blogs are, creative people. I'd like to see more tools provided for them to enhance their writings.

As well can't you put on the main page somewhere that when an area is "under contruction" like this past weekend with the blogs, the members have some idea as to what is going on. Since the site is used quite heavly by some, we become very aware, very quickly when something is up, it would be nice if you took a moment to inform us that there could be delays, and or lost posts, emails etc. It would save us all alot of frustration, I know off topic but really one that had to be mentioned.

NSAAdict: The unique response list was there for 6+ months. We
used to have a separate list for male bloggers (as they got
buried)... then some guys were creating some great blogs and
starting making the list. We could add the "guy table" back

jadedbabe78: Yes, premium member posts should appear in real-time
starting yesterday (but only when you view someone's blog). I'm
also thinking of a way to better "gate" new posts showing up on
the main page... it's a trade-off to make things harder for
people who might want to abuse the system.

leyndokona2 56M

5/3/2006 3:33 pm

.... not quite the last one....

A feature that can ban certain members from reading your blog would be interesting. If you have blocked someone in chat rooms and from emailing you, chances are you don't want them to read your blogs either. And I always found it annoying that non-members, including children, can access the blogs without logging in

SultryVirgo: great feedback (I did notice 5 posts this weekend from you - all approved)... did you have more?

citizen_five: thanks - do you have a suggestion on how we can highlight
the "best" blogs other than looking at how many unique people respond
to them? Was thinking about using voting or the # of members who put
the blog in their watched list (within the last 30 days). There is
not a perfect solution - especially as it's harder for men to show
up towards the top.

leyndokona2 - thanks - reminds me of another request I've heard...
ability to edit and unban members that were banned in blogs. Sorry,
that the blog code frustrated you - I take full responsibility on
it as a primary developer (and CEO of Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers). The key part going
forward is to better prioritize development based on user feedback.
I added the polls as they might be used all over the site (e.g.,
interest groups and magazine). I do agree that they cater more
to the less creative types - but possibly to encourage more participation.
We'll see

It would be nice to have an intelligent search facility. Because usernames have strange spellings and the use of underscore dashes etc. it is possible to lose contact, particularly with bloggers who are new to you.

Font control is still a bit technical with limited options. A wider range with a friendlier user interface would be helpful.

The smilies are very popular, but it would be good to review them. There is no smiley for hug for example, while some smilies are hardly used at all. It would also be good to have click on smilies.

I agree with helga hansen that an ability to edit a comment you've placed would be useful.

I also know that a lot of bloggers would have left Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers if it weren't for the blogging. It is something special and it's good that you are asking us all these questions and are prepared to do something about them.

I think if you keep the popularity rating as it stands now, it needs to be split into WOMEN, MEN and COUPLES/GROUPS.

Or, I think doing away with the most popular by comments would be good, expand the "slot machine" to maybe 12 places and have it continue to rotate as it does now. Each time you reload the page new people are there.

Being able to edit your comments on other peoples posts would be great.

On my most watched list, when I click on a blog it moves to the top of the list. Could that be switched to the bottom? It would make more sense as it would cycle through the list without having to open up to the continuing pages.

Have tongue, will use it. Repeatedly.

warmandsexy52 - thanks, a new wysiwyg (what you see is what you
get) editor is on it's way... hopefully either this week or on 3/15.

SensuallyKatey - yes, perks should be given out to VIPs (both
paid members and super bloggers) as they both are very important
to this community. I am currently working on a tool that will
show you which of your posts have comments *since* the last time
you read your post.

katsback - I'll get it reviewed... as for the job app, email

Luvpump: Thanks for the quick reply! I'd love to have the guys table back, or some sort of change to the list to make it more fair. I also came up with one more wish for you: when a blog gets denied, can you highlight the text that got denied or providing a specific reason as to why it was denied. Right now we just get a message that it was denied and it's left to us to figure out how or what to change which can be very frustrating. Thanks again, NSA

Probably best for me to just post this link to the poll I put up regarding changes: [post 255397]

For me, I would most like to be able to post larger accompanying pics with my blog post, perhaps even multiple pics, and to be able to have my blogs upload faster. I would also like to be able to go back and make minor edits in my blog without it delaying the posting of it forever and a day.

Regarding comments, I would like to be able to edit a comment I've made....some boards allow one to do so for a limited amount of time, such as 30 minutes, so that one can pick up on the silly grammatical errors and such. I do not necessarily agree that one should be able to delete a comment they've made, however, as that can disrupt the 'flow' of any following 'conversation'.

Thank you for your requests for input, feedback, and questions.

I also agree that paid members should have more perks in terms of blogs, than non-paying member. Also (in no particular order)
1. Easier interface for font style
2. Ability to edit comments
3. Ability to preview posts prior to posting
4. Blogs in chronological order by date of posting

I have ideas about other things but they are not related to blogs.

I have no intention of doing polls and I read alot of blogs.
When I have seen a poll on someone's blog, I just click onto
another blog to read.

As for feedback, I appreciate someone being willing to put an
identity to their comment. That doesn't happen with a poll.
I want to know who's thinking what...I care about what someone
thinks..who that someone is. Maybe because I am a real, paying
person who is not afraid to put my name on my opinion. I find
that blogland hosts people who are more real thatn alot of the
folks at Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers...at least they are willing to speak their minds.

The bottom line is that I find the comments to be worth reading
and I think that the polls discourage comments. This is important to me or I wouldn't be taking the time to write, respond and blog to begin with........and it IS time consuming..especially when the system is acting up and the posts take forever to post.

Blessings,
Goddess

Just a little food for thought.............
If you really want to be happy, nobody can stop you...

One more....and this is way out of left field, yet a good suggestion!

On couples profiles, each partner should be able to post blogs/comments as an individual....meaning, still be using the couple ID, however, they would be able to post but with their individual pic and settings (such as colors, secondary name, etc) so that people could tell which of the pair was posting something.

Kind of a weird idea maybe....but I just came from reading a blog where it was very difficult to always determine who was posting.

That's it!

Luvpump, this what I left on Sexyfit’s post;

Sexy, I got to thinking about this post. If they want to give premium members some blog perks how about listing them in “the list” the way they do when you do a search. Popular gold, popular silver, popular standard. If you are a gold member and are UP there on “the list” and you let your account go standard, you drop down. Maybe limit it to the top 20 gold, 20 silver, 20 standard then do “the list” on the other pages how ever they do them now. I bet that would get a few to remain premium and a few to upgrade. I saw luvpumps comment so I will pop over to his blog and leave this suggestion.

After reading travs comment, this would also boost the male popular bloggers...LIKE EXPAT!

As well I agree with some in regards to the "most popular list" it's the same issue I have on the magazine. This is not high school and we are not voting on the prom king or queen. I just really feel that these popularity contests must go, along with the voting in other sections. It can create far too much hostility between the members, and I don't feel there is a need for it. It's far to easy to manipulate from what I've seen. That's just my opinion on it.

Hi,
Couple of things i'd like to suggest:

1. Save draft's: allow us to save blog entries as a draft to continue it later.
2. bb style linking so we can link to images off other sites (or allow us to imbed images in a blog where we want it).
3. "paid members" posts visible immediately, and queued to be "approved" (obviously the post can still be removed if they violate terms and conditions).

anyway just my thoughts and yeah I’m a paid member.

oh also you need to start certifying the site for ie7 it occasionally is doing a few weird and wonderful things

thanks

goddess1946 - I concur... polls do discourage posting of ideas and
should be probably used in moderation on blogs where you want more
conversational flow.

Why bother having the "number" to help stop spammers when really all it does is frustrate me into not posting comments at all. If I am intelligent enough to type the correct numbers in the first time...why is Passion.com not intelligent enough recognize them and allow my post to "post". I should not have to keep trying over and over and over. It takes away my reading and/or writing time.

I'd also like to see a much easier way to do simple word commands, i.e...Bold, Underline, Color, Font and Size.

Thanks for the chance to voice my frustrations....

I make mistakes, I am out of control & at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best. ~Marilyn

oh just one more thing...
could our "watched list" be sorted by "latest post" date or could you give us the ability to define how we sort e.g.

name a-z (z-a)
post old to new (new to old)
No of posts (increasing / decreasing)

the highlighting you have put in place for new posts is quite useful however its behaviour is a little inconsistant

As a currently non-paying member of this site ... I don't know how well I will be heard. Some of my thoughts will be repeats of previous posters. But here I go ...

1) Allow either editing of your own posts/comments or allow a preview of it before it is posted.

2) Give paying members special perks ... ability to use color backgrounds or skins for example.

3) Remove the most popular by comments all together. Why not have a most watched list instead.

4) There should be a way for couples to post as individuals in their blog.

I do not think we should have music piped in through the system as one person suggested. We do not all listen to the same things! I would actually, probably stop coming here if I was forced to listen to what some people call music.

On the other hand ...

I do like the way you now have the highlighting in the watched blogs and posts section. Makes it so much easier to spot what I want to spot.

Thank you for your time.

And I want to add

1. View All to Most Recent Visitors. I don't get a lot of comments but I do get a lot of repeat visitors.
2. Delete Inactive Blogs after say 180 days???
3. Blogging should still be offered to standard members but paying members should get extra perks.
4. The little gold or silver ball to denote type of membership

All of these are already mentioned but i just wanted to reinforce

Suggestions for improvement:
1. No Blogs for Standard members.

*** Being a paying member has no real benifit in the blog section and Standard members are not helping to support the site cost of operations. Standard members can access but not add thier own or comment on the blogs.

2. Silver members only get the "notepad" versions for thier blog

*** Silver members have paid for full access but limited features

3. Gold members get a full featured blog.

*** Gold members have paid for every perk.

4. Replace recent blogs list with a search the recent blogs option

*** It would be much better to be able to search for blogs by
people that match cupid settings or personality type or zodiac sign or age or location or.....

5. Suspend blogs after 30 days of no viewer or creator activity and Delete after 90 days of the same.

*** This is just good database management. 19 million inactive blogs do not need to be indexed and stored.

Pros:
Reduced server and other IT support requirements
Paying members get a better sense of "membership having it privelges"

Con:
standard members don't have full functionality of the site and may opt to leave instead of joining.

If I have duplicated anyone else's comments, then it is definetly worth noting as something to seriously consider.

Get rid of the poll list!!
I'm on this list with a sarcstic (you gotta know me to understand it) first poll. I don't see how anyone who does a poll today would be able to get enough votes to make it to the front page. I look at the front page now and it is way to busy. You are listing us to death! How about a view all polls button on the first page instead of another list.

Another suggestion for premium members, give them control of what they want to see on their front page.

Andrew...

1: I think you could allow for posting photos in comments other than simply member's primary photos (embedded objects perhaps.) This would have to apply to the POLLS, also. As the BLOGer would have a pretty solid shot at control over content, it shouldn't be too great a problem.

2: The comment toolbar would help, if it worked.

3: Use a VIEW ALL HANDLES button to list ALL members who have entered your BLOG and also those who have commented to your BLOG, rather than the current limit of ten for each category (they could page just as the MASTER BLOG pages do.)

4: A button/function that allows one to click on a BLOG Post photo and enlarge the view (I currently use my network albums for an archive of my posted BLOG photos. But that allows only friends to view in full size.)

5: When you do realtime testing on the site, do it in parallel and only funnel volunteer alpha testers to the testing "zone." Also, post notice of any major site work being conducted so we all know that it might be wise to slow down on activity. Most here would do this as a means of useful participation in making the site better... faster!

Plenty more but I think those would go quite a ways toward making things more convenient. I have added your BLOG to my watched list. When you post one here for GENERAL issues, I have a couple of pages I need to post to it.

Keep yer eyes open and yer hands on the wheel. This thing don't drive itself - no matter what anyone else thinks!

Solar...

PS: True to my word, I haven't asked for one single favor - yet! *LMAO*

Wish list

1. The ability to post animated gif files as both blog illustrations and personal photos.

Check out this way limited viewpoint on the matter in the "adding photos to profile section.

Your Photos May NOT Be:

* No anime or cartoons of any kind - Whether it's moving or still, cartoons and anime are not photos of you! It's that simple.

I can hang fine with the no anime or animated cartoons for profile pictures rule but this site will not allow the usage any file in animated gif format whatsoever. And the full range of what can be done with that format is massive. with anime and feature cartoon animation not even being the a spec on the tip of the ice berg. And it would be a snap make an animated gif which was made from photos of you.

And sorry for bringup up the profile pictures but that's the only place I've found any words concerning the restriction of animated gif files here and these files will also not work if you try to use them as blog illustration images.

But this is the only user participatory (web board type) site that I've ever encountered that , for reaons that still baffle me, disallows usage of animated gifs.

I've got high level training in motion graphics for film, TV and web and there currently is absolutely zilch way for me to express myself here in this manner. And there are all sorts of ways that this type of imagery could be useful to accompany blog material and particularly if it were of a sexual nature. Sex indeed does move.

So yes, I'd love to be able to use animated gifs in blogs.

Very much so I'll add.

2. Varying image sizes for the one now allowed title blog post image.

3. The ability to use multiple images of varying sizes in the text field of the blog.

4 Personal sound libraries and "buttons" (sorta like smiley faces) to which sounds from that library may be assigned and triggered from.

5. Ability use stuff like media player/quicktime video/motion clips.

This site just impressed me more...The CEO takes time to Talk to the customers..Damn..Ya'll got a handle on this here Biz...One thing that impressed me most about Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers was that non-payin members like me had the chance to Blog,Meet, and even get lucky( 12 offers )...if ya turn off the normal members photo's ..Males that is...then turn off the norm ,females and couples...ya gotta change that gold member name ...sounds like an austin powers movie...Could i afford it,I wouldnt go for that...Yea Baby...ick...no gold member for me thankyou...I've been tryin to decide whether to up to silver this spring or just dump the whole idea and blog on google where i get paid...as far as the gold member women I've only talked to a couple of those elite and never been offered so much as a cup of coffee...the silver member women are way more friendly and less elite thinking....in conclusion...I probably would only go silver for six months max at current prices...
It doesnt make me money,it wont put food on my table and has yet to put a woman in my bed...Handyman

Sexyfitwoman just posted this question: Would getting your posts posted faster be worth a paid membership? (paraphrasing). This is what I wrote to her:

I voted no and this is why -
I am currently a silver member and, at least until this site drives me over the edge with its technical glitches, intend to continue to be silver. To do that or continue it for the purpose of insuring that the site function AS IT IS SUPPOSED TO FUNCTION in the first place, well that feels like extortion.

With all these silly little bells and whistles stuff, I can only assume that upgrading to a server that can handle the traffic is too cost prohibitive, so the company will continue to try to make us happy with small things, since they have made the fiscal decision not to give us what we want.

I spent most of my life working for the private sector business world, so I actually do understand their dilemma. However, as a consumer, if I were to find a comparable product, I'd be outta here in a heartbeat. The catch to that is that you'd all have to come with me, lol, or it wouldn't be the same product.

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

are you changing them now to be three lists?
...most popular male

...most popular couples

???
or are you leaving the males on the most popular list?

or am I viewing this in progress?

Just a little food for thought.............

First of all, I think it's fantastic that there is now communication like this! Bravo!

Now for my suggestions which, by the way, may or may not have been suggested already and I apologize if they have! Well, here are my two cents!

I think it would be fantastic to be able to have a feature where we could left/right justify or (more importantly) CENTER our words and/or pics!

I think that it would be great for people like me who LOVE to use color in their posts to be able to just open up a link to a separate box (like the smilies) to be able to pick out colors instead of typing the names of the colors in!

Is there an underlining feature I'm not aware of? I'd like to be able to underline or highlight (kinda like highlighters do in real life...lol) text instead of having just bold and italics as options!

I 110% agree that there should be a way to preview our posts so that we don't have to see the mistakes we make and then have to repost repeatedly. I ALWAYS see something I don't like or forgot to say or a spelling error and have to repost. Most annoying!

Along the same lines as the above statement, I agree that we should be able to preview/edit comments on others' blogs!

I would LOVE to be able to use more pics in blogs other than the tiny one in the top left-hand corner of each post that we are allowed to use from "outside sources" (not sure how else to say that)!

That's all I can think of right now! Once again, thank you for doing this! I think it's a giant step forward for the Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers community to be able to talk to someone directly about things that are on our minds!

P.S.

How about a free gold membership to the best idea? LOL! I'm kidding of course!

Let's see... It can take up to seven tries before a comment takes. There's one thread in my blog, where I actually used the poll feature... most of the comments were made on Friday or Saturday, but weren't visible until today.

There's also the problem of, it looks like a comment took, but when you look through the RSS feed, your comment isn't there. It has nothing to do with someone hitting the ban button, as it happens to me on my own blog and I sure as hell haven't banned myself from posting.

Then there's the spider that looks for offense key words. I did a post this week on Lent, based on what a street preacher on the bus was spewing. There's no way to talk about this season without mentioning Christ was a Jew. I ask in the post why we eat ham on Easter to commemmorate the resurrection of an Orthodox Jew. I'm assuming that was the offensive word. After hitting submit three times and being denied, I had to write to Customer Service to get the post reviewed and approved. When a word sets off the censoring software, there should be some sort of human review. There are so many blog posts by desperate men that break the rule of no soliciting in the blogs. Yet the ads these people write in the blogs are approved, while a well researched and thought out post is denied for words that are programmed into the software.

Also, the hosting company has to do something about the blog server. Who's hosting whom is a matter of public record, easily found in a variety of places. In two words, Savvis sucks. The blogs take forever to load, in general and when suffering blog jam, you can forget it. I even know the pattern to blogjam. First, only the German blogs load. Then the Japanese. I think they're Japanese. Then the Spanish, then the French. Then the English ones trickle in, in no particular order and posts get lost.

The polls, I don't mind, they're typical of forum software and kind of cute. However, the voting? I can understand that in the magazine and the advice lines, but do we really need to know if random people agree or disagree with what we have to say? If they want to say something, they can leave a comment.

One thing I'd love to be able to do is be able to delete or edit a comment I've made to someone else's blog, such as if I've misspelled something, or I got the HTML tags wrong. We don't have the option to delete our own comments, or even edit them.

(yes, I am long winded.)

Next, the main page of the blogs. The most recent posts list doesn't update everytime new blog entries are uploaded. To get to the newest posts most of the time, you have to hit "View All." We shouldn't have to do that. The newest posts should be listed when they're uploaded. But that list on the front page tends to stick. As I write this, the two pages don't match. The front page is listing posts from what seems to be two uploads ago.

Now, on that subject, there doesn't seem to be a schedule on which posts are uploaded to the server and made visible to the public. It can be every 20 minutes for a while, then it will be a few hours. It would be nice to see them made public on a regular basis.

If you ask me, the system that was going on when I started a year ago, was the best and should have been left alone. If it aint broke, don't fix it. Fuck all those that need ratings. If they want ratings, they need to work for a Broadcasting company, or try Hollywood. Not here. This aint the place for it. All of us should have the same access and possibilities when blogging, whether we pay or not. If you haven't noticed, MANY people have left the Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers Blogs and joined other sites simply to get away from all the stupid rivalry that goes on here. You would think we were all in grade school here, by the way many act. The blogs are no longer a nice place to post, rather a damned pain in the ass.

Ok! Andrew!

I have to tell you that I am VERY impressed with the changes that I have seen in the blogs in the short time that you have gotten the feedback from the members here! Thank you VERy much for listening to what the members of 'Blogland' have to say, it is nice when a programmer listens to suggestions.

I am fairly New to the blogs so I do not feel that there is much that I can add to the topic only that maybe an in-active blog be deleted after a period of 6 months.

I like the changes that I have seen in the blogs so far with the highlighting on my watch list and with the paying members status showing.

Thanks again and if you ever find yourself in Belgium let me know and I will be happy to buy you a real beer!

I just found one very interesting fault in the poll thing. It's obvious that most members who have posted polls are just making them to test what they are about.

It is possible to write a poll, and then after collecting votes on it, change both the subject and the answers. This can be funny of course but hardly the purpose of the polls lol

Okay, there is just one other suggestion... not sure if it's already here, but relating to the "Most Popular" list. Someone above commented that the way it's set up excludes a lot of good male blogs. So... how's this: set up two lists; one male and one female!

Allsleeky 43M

6/3/2006 6:02 am

I like the highlighted new posts in your watch list, new faces on the active watched list, but I don't see the need to show that members who visited your profile are premiun/standard. I also don't see the need for most popuar polls. Being able to add gif images into the body of your blog post would be nice. The popularity list should be divide at least into three groups women/men/couples.

moonlightphoenix 52M

6/3/2006 6:57 am

I've read through all the suggestions and comments, and I agree with most of them. I do NOT agree with disallowing nonpaying members to blog. There's already enough of a class system here, and if you don't want standard members to be able to do anything, why even bother allowing them at all? Just make the entire site paying only and be done with it.

Ok...things I'd like to see, or suggestions I agree with stated previously by others:

1. Ability to delete my own posts to others blogs.

2. Save draft

3. Allow us to add our own mood to the drop down list.

4. Get rid of the unique posts and just allow us to see how many VIEWS we've had total for each blog entry, or for the entire blog. (That would be way cool).

5. Allow us to see EVERYONE who's visited the blog. Currently, if someone has the filter turned off so that they aren't listed as viewing someone's profile, then they also aren't listed as viewing someone's blog. I'd like to see if certain people (who I know have their profile tracks listed as invisible) have viewed certain entries.

6. Expand the newly updated blog list...it would be nice to see like maybe the last 75 or 100 blogs listed.

7. Allow us to have a blog filter that gives us options for viewing the latest blog listings. IE: allow us to sort by language, geographic area, cupid listings, etc. There's nothing more disappointing than seeing new blog listings and then realizing they're all in German.

8. Allowing us to post multiple pics in the body of the entry.

9.Instead of ranking blogs by comments...rank by total views. This will also allow the AWBggers to most likely remain at the top of the list, but it will allow those who are watched but not neccessarily commented on a lot to break into the list.

10. Allow us to select if we'd like to allow comments or not by individual entry.

And my GREATEST desire:

PLEASE add a VIEW MY BLOG link to the front page. Instead of having to sign in, then go to blogs and then view my blog, or signing in then "update my blog" and back to my blog. My computer constantly crashes, and having extra pages to have to sort through before being able to view the latest comments on my blog is annoying as...well, I'm sure you can guess. Wait....maybe even better would be to have a "view latest blog comments" on the front page. That would be way cool.

Thanks for asking and giving us the opportunity to suggest. I've been thinking about emailing about the front page link for a few weeks now.

I think that one should have more control with photos on blogs, more photos, control of size,.
It should also be easier to change font color, style, size, backgound, without having to know HTML.
Design formats ....
Better help section
Uniform posting time ....
Quicker post turnaround

I don't know if this is a good idea, but I guess there's no bad idea, ok that's enough preamble.
How about the ability to leave "private" or "personal" comments on a blog post?
Included with that of course is the ability to "block" comments from certain or specific members.

Aside from the occasional glitches and missing posts, you guys (and gals if there are any) are doing a great job on the blogs. It is definitely better! Thanks!

a couple more brief and random thoughts re: the blogs....then i need to get to a meeting:

- the stupid popularity contest of "Most Popular Blogs" - while customarily i detest popularity contests, i also recognize the need to grab people's attention and directing them to the best blogs, all in encouraging them to return and/or start there own.

to me, the truly most popular blogs should be calculated, somehow, by counting the number of 'watched lists' they are on. afterall, anyone will get a lot of views and/or inane comments by posting a stupid question or a hot pic....however, the ones with true 'quality' will have return visitors....just a thought, but an extremely valid one.

- thanks for considering our input

- and thank you for the things you've implemented such as faster posting and i simply love the number of new comments being recorded at the bottom of each blog! that was an unexpected and priceless 'feature'.

I love the changes to the Frequently Watched Blogs panel! It is great to be able to see if there are new posts. I also like the notation on the blog entry that shows the number of new comments as well as the total.

As many have already said, I would love to see some more perks for the paying members. At this point the blogs are the only reason that my wife and I are still here on Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers.

I get very frustrated with the delay between the time a blog entry or comment is posted and the time it becomes visible to everyone. I have seen it take several hours hours before the posts are visible. The idea of immediate visibility is great, I hope that it works out.

You're headed in the right direction! Thanks for the efforts.

You might want to check out the counters on the blogs. Before the last blog update was posted I noticed that the total number of posts would need about 110 more posts to reach 1 million posts on the blogs. I refreshed the page, less than 5 new blogs show up in the recent blogs but now the total number of blogs is 1.000.162. Where did the other 250 blog posts go?

Just because there are not enough opinions on the matter: I personally wish there wasn't the most popular blog list. I would rather have the space to show my entire list of watched blogs. I don't really care who is the most popular, in fact I will shy more AWAY from them. I would rather find a blogger that is lesser known.

Seems if you took the suggestions of letting people customize the pages, this could resolve itself. Allow those to put the list up if they wanted it and by categories. Have fun coding that...lol!!!!

Reading and rereading all of these responses I have found that there are alot of really great suggestions. Music, more html, graphics, backgrounds, more member priviliges, comment editability etc are all creditable.
I would like to inject here some comments from a "standard member". While SensualKatey advocates more perks for members in blogging, I would like to inject caution in taking away from lesser member status. Your marketing style in this site is admirable. Your draw is the standard member who looks at the site first, tries it and then decides whether it is worthwhile to join. There are alot of areas to blog on the net now. I would hate to see Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers turn into one of those sites that ONLY allows PAID MEMBERS.

Hello Andrew,

My name is Nick and I was one of your members that was interviewed by David Klesmodel of the WSJ Online a couple weeks ago. I have asked your PM (Peggy) to forward an email between her and I to you.

For the Blog section. Many of members are having complaints about the posting lags (delays) and I believe many of us would much prefer to seeing this resolved then adding new features at this time. This same problem is affecting groups as well. Just yesterday, I noticed in a poll I took about members having success on the site that many comments were not there and then all of sudden one starts to show and another shows a few hours later that was posted before the others showed. In other words, the postings were out of sinc and many were delayed over 24 hours.

I would love to see us bloggers able to use the standard html for making tables, marquees, backgrounds and use of wallpapers as backgrounds too.

A while back I showed members the scrolling marquee and it caused an effect on the request review because the html tag was not closed (ended) ; consequently, the Request review link scrolled across the screen as well. Is there a way to move the Request Review out of the text box (table area) area and place it by the reply or quote under a member’s photo that is on the left side of the posting?

I just like to point out, that many of us members are familiar with HTML and not so familiar with the BBS Tags used and get confused in them with the different tag commands. It would be nice to see both types of tags be allowed.

Also it would be nice to see you place a posting of explanation of certain things that are being done or being resolved in concerns to all postings, so we members can know that our reports or complaints are being worked on. It make it better to hear it from you and calm down some of the members of the site too

Your1DreamLover (Proud Member of Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers Since December 6, 1999)

Ok, reading the replies, comments here ... seem to be all one sided.
Who really cares who's popular, is it making money by being popular?
Does it draw in new memberships based on the blogs and the content therein?
Just my humble thoughts here for the little people.

If you "upgrade" the blogs to paying members only ... I sorta see it as a way to get rid of the "Standard Members", at least those who like to meet like minded folks, and find another outlet for friendship and or other means that is connected to this site.
But, I'm almost sure that most comments, made here by Standard Members, will fall completely between the cracks.

If you want just a PAYING site, then strike out the "Free for Standard Members" and just make it like the rest of the Internet Dating sites.
NO wonder this site was able to buy up the little man's projects here.
Be that as it may... do what the upper-class needs for they are the ones that make this site possible for the little people.
JMHO
Thanks

What I like of the recent new features:

Unread posts on my Watched Blog list are highlighted - very helpful

Under # of comments, the NEW comments are separated. I LOVE this! I just love it.

Admission of a cranky subscriber: [/]
Yes, it does seem that things have been posting a little faster lately. Still skeptical, but pleased with reservation

Doesn't matter:
The polls. Keep 'em or leave 'em. I'm guessing that after the novelty of everyone doing a "how stupid are these polls" poll, it might actually be an interesting tool. And the way they were programmed was good.

That thing were you can vote on whether or not you agree with a comment is kinda dumb and I've not seen anyone actually use it. Plus it's sort of in the way.

Still wants:
More photo flexibility - like being able to post any photo within a comment. Bigger size would be great, but that uses the already taxed bandwidth, so I am willing to sacrifice that for ease of site operation

Mahalo!

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

Thanks for asking -

1) It seems every now and then folks comment and I can't see the comment until hours and hours later. Also, there has been at least two instances where a comment is posted (numbers tell me so) yet the comment never appears.

2) Sometimes I want to correct or change the photo I added to my post and I go to change it and the original keeps appearing or never goes away.

3) Sometimes a post will be altered. For example - the subject line may say "one-two-three" and when I look at it later all it relfects is "one-". I'm not sure why this happens, but it's frustrating.

4) I will be glad to see it if posts appear quickly - however my experience is it takes hours and hours - sometimes over night.

5) When I edit a blog by removing a word or two or adding a word or two it is amazing how long it takes for the edits to appear. I understand that the blogs are reviewed, but it would be nice if the edits could be reviewed quickly instead of taking hours and hours.

I appreciate the changes to the blogs that have been recently made and I appreciate your asking for and acting upon feedback.

Take care! Whisper...

1. WYSIWYG client side editor for the add a blog and add a comment page. I volunteer to write it the client side script (for free).

2. Ability to change/edit a comment after it has been posted.

3. A way to identify which of a couple is blogging or posting.

4. Separate lists for men/women/couples on the "most popular".

5. Count unique responders PER post, not unique (across posts) for xx days in determing the ranks.

6. The ability to enter hyperlinks using [link][/link] syntax. If you're blogging about current events its polite to refer back to sources.

7. More HTML like editing capabilities (e.g. tables, embedded pictures, etc. Let those of us who can handle HTML use it to improve the appearence of our posts.

8. FONTS.

9. Immediate posting/updating for gold/silver members. Hey, pay to play!

The polls is a little disconnected from the blog itself, it allows people to be even meaner in secret than they are when they have to comment. It only allows for others to continue mischief.

I think that the new feature about new comments and the location of said comments is a very good idea, and should remain.

I tend to agree with others who recommended being able to add pictures within the blogs than on the side. Aslo I would like to be able to add different pictures of myself inside the blog post itself.

I hope this dont get people mad at me but I would be included in this as well But I think that if a blog post is at least 6 months to a year old then it should be removed but not the comments that came with it. It would also allow the poster to copy the post and keep in a personal file before it was removed from their blog.

Or the older posts should be archived and separated from the newer stuff. That way a member wont have to scroll through page after page to find a comment on an old blog because it will be no longer available to comment on. I hope I didnt confuse anyone on this. Or upset anyone.

I am the real deal! "Come Get Me!!!"

FreeLove999 reminded me of something else that I also feel needs some attention so I'll just quote her....

i don't only want to see the new comments on my most recent posts -- but it should show on that list whenever someone comments on an old post -- even one from a year ago.

yeah, just what she said right there

there is something yet still but it escapes me

it won't a bit later though

Oh yeah, one more. A user friendly (no code use necessary dammit! ) customizable personalized blog intro page in which we choose whatever appears there. Right now we have no choise but to view what lists are shown. I think we should have the option of choosing what lists of data appear on that page.

Just wanted to echo WickedWytch69's suggestion of a way to see recent comments on your blog - the "most recent responses" list on the right only seems to cover the last ten blog posts, there's been several times someone has added a comment to an old blog posting and I've not noticed it for weeks or even months. Which is a shame.

I was very happy to see the current set of enhancements - polls are a gimmick of course but they'll die down once the novelty wears off. I really like the watched blogs page now highlighting blogs with new posts in yellow.

.... now I can't remember who it is I was quoting... I hit quote on a comment on page six but the comment window opens on page one.....

.... the 1 millionth post ... there must be a million of those since the numbers keep changing back and forth all the time. Maybe tomorrow there will only be 900.000 posts again.

........I'm trying to leave this damn thing, why can't they review my post when I need them to lol. Andrew when you read this, can you please please please either remove my entire blog or tell me how I can do it without going through each individual post playing hide and seek.

Thank you

the new layout of author/blog title is harder to read than before.
.
what's the deal with the most recent posts section? sometimes it goes back 3-5 pages, sometimes just one. (why?)
.
being able to customize which sections (and in what layout) pop up in my blog would be nice.

Kevnico, I would like to give you an idea as to why the reinventing of HTML tags with the BBS tags.

One: It is an easy to learn coding for the average beginner.

As we know in HTML if we change the font color it would look like this < font color= "blue" > your text in blue color < /font >

If we change the size it would be < font size="4" > the size of the font < /font >

I won't show the code but if we were to want to link to our photos, blogs postings, groups and other members handles and photos, etc... the code would be much more difficult for a beginner to learn; in addition, would require many more key strokes as well to write that code.

TWO- The BBS tag coding allows the developer of BLOGS to have more control over what is permitted and not permitted; thus it is a way to avoid certain things that can be done in HTML that can be considered as abuse by the developer of the Blogging area or of the site.

In Response to Broc about audio music clips or videos, those are files that are large in comparison to still images (photos, gif's, jpg's) that must be uploaded to a server and thus require space on the servers and then downloaded to the viewer or listener. While an image file (photo) may only take up 50kb for example, an audio or video file would take up several megabytes. Consequently, this will cause a decrease in bandwidth and an effect on the servers and things would become sluggish because of such large files being downloaded to several viewers at once, and especially with multiple video or audio files being uploaded and downloaded by the users of Blog sections.

I agree that many of Kevnico suggestions are superb. Just yesterday I had to delete a comment made in my Blog that had a private email address in the posting that made it way through the filter.

I saw a lot of comments about how My Space and 360 are set up. 360?? Please! Give me a break! I get spammed to death on 360. I was exploring My Space yesterday. Yes, it is free, it is also supported by advertisement. Another site that came to mind was Live Journal. I have a premium account (for my eyes only) on that site. Why premium and not free? Because the premium membership offered me more features. (photograph storage, photograph posting, blog designing, emailing, instant messaging, a better search engine, polling and a better way to control viewing of my blog/journal and comments)

Reading through the comments it looks like a lot of people would like Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers to offer blog features the way some of the other blog sites do.

I want to remind everyone that Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers started off as dating/sex site. They make their money by giving premium members (mostly men) the ability to view profiles/pictures/web cams and send out emails. They also knew they needed to offer a standard member feature to draw the crowd in. As a standard female all I had to do was write a profile, post a pretty picture then sit back and sort through the email. If I was interested in someone who emailed me and they did not send a photograph I was able to email them and ask for the picture. I had no reason to pay for this site. Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers also discovered somewhere down the line that the standard members feature brought in people abusing the site, (fake profiles, links to other paid sites, etc…

I can’t help but feel that if Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers added most of these suggested blog features to ALL members, people will start abusing the blog site.

Ability to post photographs in blogs (other then the little thumbnail we can post on the left side of the page) ‒ Too tempting for me, I’d post the dicks that came with the emails I write about. There goes discretion. I can also see a lot of visits to the neighborhood porn site to grab, download and post on the blog these photographs, then claim they are my boobies. Let’s not forget about standard members not being able to view profile photographs. Oh the things we could do IF we could embed photographs into our blog.

NO MUSIC OR VIDEO! OMG, You have no idea how slow my computer ran (and she’s not even obsolete) every time I visited a blog on My Space that had music piped in.

Ability to add backgrounds or skins on our blog- That could work to our advantage, some people get carried away with their creativity. I can see me NOT visiting that blog again.

The list- Travs mentioned how My Space has a popular blog list. Yes, they do have one. It was also a link not an in your face list.

I no longer have a reason to be on this site for what it is advertise as. I met what it was I was seeking last summer. It is the blogs and the friends I met through the blogs that have kept me here. I am also a paying member. Not to view local profiles or hook up with the local men, but to view the profiles and email my blog friends. I’m not sure how much longer I will keep my paying membership. If I was offered “blog perks” as a premium member I may keep it, that depends on what those perks were.

Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers has to decide for themselves if they want to be a “blog site” or a “dating/sex site” and where/how they will make the most money.

Something else I would really like to see…maybe a premium member perk. I DO NOT LIKE the fact that I am listed as a lesbian. Nothing against them but if you search my screen name I show up on that site name. Also,as much as I enjoy being able to view the blogs without logging in, I don’t care for that kind of exposure.

How about giving frequent bloggers discount prices for renewal as premioum members. They create content that others enjoy, so encourage renewal and use. Feed the machine that fuels the beast! I would have suggested premium intros to hot sex partners, but I think that is illegal in most states...

Andrew good to see the changes ringing in.Would it be possible to alter the way in which we can choose our watched blogs and watched posts slightly. At present its really time consuming to go through and delete unwanted ones individually, as it takes time for them to go, before you can move onto the next.

Could we have the facility to select more than one at a time, rather than clicking on each x individually.I hope this is easy to impliment as it would save time for bloggers big and small.

Also as I am sure you are aware there is great support for a simple "blog updates/feedback page" where we can be informed of changes /updates/planned work, or why bugs are ocurring.Could we have a link to it on the main blog page at the top? perhaps you could then link from that to a CS report form, so you and your team instantly know the bug being reported is to do with the blogs.

Its good that you are doing this at the moment through your own personal pages. As Im sure you can tell by now, this community will be very tolerent as long as they know whats going on, and as you say its that community feel which makes blogland such a special place that utilised right can be a good enhancement to this site and its services. Therefore I would have thought that the logical progression is an information page.

Its just a thought. Its good to see you involved in this area of the site.

Keep up the good work

Amber

Depressing is how it makes me feel.

Yes, HotMatch has been wonderful, amazing, and actually helpful in the upgrades. There are a ton of wonderful suggestions here. But it's still is depressing to think that all this work you put into this site and it becomes mundane like any other sex/dating site just seems sad. I do agree, there should be bennies for each level of membership, non-paying & paying. But, the Blogs are a general perk of the site.

Oh, just some FYI and I'm SO NOT trying to promote any other site here, but -myspace.- just upgraded to include -mymaturespace.- another way of trying to gather the "standard members" that other sites shooo away. This site has it's downfall, but then, what's left for the standard members of this or anyother site to go when everyone shuns you?

I still like it here. Hope to remain here. But time will tell.
warm wishes & good luck on your decisions.

Well, it would be real nice if one could be told why they get their complete profile and all their blogs banned supposedly for plagiarizing something, when there is no proof whatsoever to show this. As far as I know, anything posted in an open forum is subjsect to be used and unless it has a registered copyright per document, can not be considered as such and if a person claims to have a copyright on said material, they must show proof of said copyright.

To say someone plagiarized something, without giving proof, and then removing someone from the site is just wrong.

First of all, we do enjoy the addition of the polls, very much. It adds another dimension to our daily blogs.

Hopefully, the ability to insert our own pictures or graphics, instead of our main profile picture being the default, will be forthcoming for the polls.

I haven't tried it yet, but an underline message command, added to the others, would be a plus also (just thought I'd try it).

We look forward to the forthcoming additions and changes.

I've gone through and read the comments again. A few things I noticed are people who think the blogs should just be for gold and silver members and in the case of one newbie who seems to do nothing on his blog but bitch that he's been here for weeks and isn't getting any action, not even silver members should have functionality. A bit elistist that we can afford what others can't? Some of my favorite blogs are written by standard members. For some standard members, some who have been here for years, the blogs are about the only way they can get noticed. Some are incredibly talented writers, too. Gold and silver members have perks in the rest of the site that standard members don't have. There's no reason to be elistist in the blogs too.

I'm against things like media players and weird backgrounds. If a person wants My Space functionality, go to My Space. Then you can use all the crap that crashes the browsers and computers of others and brings cable and DSL connections to a damned standstill. Bad idea. Take a look at My Space profiles on a computer that isn't exactly brand new and doesn't have a gig of RAM. In general, they pages all look like prime textbook examples of how not to design a website. Basically, I won't even ready my friend's My Space blogs, as the last thing I want is to hit a blog and have crap rock or some obnoxious voice greeting blast from my speakers.

I personally have nothing against the top bloggers list. I don't read all the top bloggers, however, I have noticed since the new way of calculating unique comments, a lot of comment whores, who were basically spamming their own blogs have dropped off the list. So I do like the unique comments method. Going by the number of views means nothing. If you look at the list, the people who at the top of the list get more views than anyone else anyway. But if it went by views, when blog jam is going on, some idiot who has nothing posted but, "Why aren't women falling on my dick?" might be at the top of the recent bloggers list and can end up on the top bloggers list, simply because everyone is clicking the post to see what time blogs were last updated. That's no more content than, "What do you think of my latest tit pic?"

Another thing about the top bloggers list is, if you leave intelligent comments in the blogs of the top bloggers, that are ON TOPIC, chances are more people are going to click on your blog. That was something I learned my first week of blogging. That is true of any site with blogs, be it here, My Space, Live Journals, Blogger. You can't just make a post and expect everyone to flock to it. You have to make yourself visible. Then again, if you want people to read your blog, you have to have content and it has to be readable.

But case in point about disappearing comments... I had made a second comment with other blog concerns, which others have addressed at this point. It told me it was there after I hit post, but it never appeared. But a few things I mentioned were:

The request review button. In some cases, one hit of the button can cause a comment or post to disappear. Yet when someone makes a truly abusive comment, such as something that was going on here with an abusive member a few months ago, his comments weren't disappearing from any blogs. But the request review button on blogs, which should be a free speech zone, aren't necessary. If you don't like what a person says, don't read their blogs. If you don't like a comment, if you're the blog owner, hit delete and ban the person. But we are all supposed to be adults here. The word adult doesn't just mean pornographic content. Mature topics aren't just sex. To go around reporting people's blog posts and comments of those you don't like or have a personal vendetta against is far from mature, adult behavior. It is grade school behavior.

The moods. I agree with everyone else. There are lots of moods I wish were listed that aren't, such as amazed, bemused, underwhelmed. But examinate is on the list? Not even competing dictionaries can agree on what that word means.

Banned words annoy me, especially since we're not privy to the list of words the spider is looking for. As we are supposed to all be mature, adults here, there should be no banned words.

I have a couple of suggestions.

1. I would like a section on the main blog page that states which posts on my blog that have new comments. I usually don't look past the first couple of pages but I have found a few posts that were further back. Also I think many here would post comments to older blog posts if it were set up that way.

2. I kinda feel guilty asking this one since I don't have a paid account right now, but could you consider hiring a couple more people to approve posts. (BTW I know someone who practically lives on the site who would love the job)

If blogging was changed to favor the paying members, you would certainly lose me as a paying member.

I see the benefits of having Gold status as largely in unrestricted searching and profile viewing. Blogging is kind of superfluous to that, although I now spend most of my Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers time on the blogs.

One of the great things about blogs is that they're essentially egalitarian. Lose that, and you will lose the spur that drives so many of the great writers around here to keep posting.

The popularity lists should stay as is, although it might be good to allow different sorts of it (most popular in the last month, most popular new blogs, most popular couples' blogs, etc). The benefit of the popularity list is that it gives a good starting point to discover some of the most interesting writers and/or people with intriguing stories to tell. Yes, it does favor those who have been blogging longer, or who are better at networking, but blogging is never going to be entirely fair.

I believe that people who have something to say will eventually generate their own audiences who, in turn, will spread the word. It's that egalitarian thing again.

Videos, sounds and other geegaws aren't really going to enhance the blogging experience, in my view. At least give those of us who don't feel it necessary the ability to not have to see/hear those sorts of things.

Having said that, more space for images would be nice. Or the option of seeing an image larger, at least.

Regarding the topic of video, animation and customization of blogs like myspace; I will agree with most in that I don't like it. But it will be something that I will use in my evaluation if I will watch a blog. If it is designed poorly and is slow, I just will not go back. BTW: you don't have to worry about the video and pix wasting the Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers bandwidth. That extra stuff is referenced to other websites and will not impact the Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers bandwidth.

luvpump, thanks for stepping up to the plate and allowing us to toss a few pitches up, and of course, AT you. Red Badge of Courage Award !!

I am surprised that there are only 8 pages of comments on/over your PLATE so far. Boy wait 'til the weekend!!!!

Great addition, identifying the age/sex of all listed blogs.

Changing the popularity list counting method, change is good, and the new counting method is a great method of indicating viewer interest, for whatever reason.

A couple of suggestions, some of the Ladies do not want to be on the most watched list, for whatever their reason, some sort of "exempt me from the listing" option. The Ladies who prefer not to be overwhelmed with the attention in their mailboxes might appreciate this.

If you are considering some sort of restrictive membership into the blogs, require only having to have paid for a membership once for a 1 month period, thereafter when paid period ends you are "grandfathered" in! Of course new members would not have to pay for the access for the 1st thirty days, to "set the Hook" and show the unique addvantages of blogging.
Or just a one time, nominal fee for the std members to access the blogs, would partially compensate the site for the daily maintenance required in the blogs.

Again thanks for the opportunity to make suggestions!

I agree with so many things already mentioned and would like to reinforce that with a few "quotes" copied/pasted here....and I'll apologize in advance for not mentioning whose words these are because there are many....who I agreed with in particular. I was going to bring up the speed issue of when blogs/comments show up....but that appears to have been greatly improved.

(1) Save draft's: allow us to save blog entries as a draft to continue it later.

(2) View All to Most Recent Visitors

(3) Delete Inactive Blogs after say 180 days??? <<~~~~ Or some sort of time...90 days... 60 days...but definitely old blogs should be removed and stored somewhere else, or maybe a friendly "reminder" sent to that member/blogger...such as your blog has had no activity for "x" amount of days/weeks/months...please update or delete it. Maybe something to that effect.

(4) When you disapprove a blog, can you please give us a detailed explanation to our mailbox as to why so we can have the choice of amending it if we can... somtimes the rationale for it does not make sense at all.<<~~~~ This one I agree with big time....and not only that...but what's up with a post that has been "approved"....and been visible for days...and has comments....then all of a sudden it's "disapproved"? Oh...and what about certain pictures. IE: DaphneR at times will want to use a picture of a rodent, but apparently... it gets denied each and every friggin time? Does Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers have a problem with mice? Surely that can't be an offensive picture...and since she's unable to use it, I have no idea what in the world could've been so bad.....FFS....there are oh so many pics that I would think would raise more than and eyebrow or 2....yet they fly on by and are allowed to stay.

(5) To be able to switch of commenting on one post and not on others. sometimes I post things I don't want comments on, but if I switch off comments it affects the entire blog.<<~~~~ Yep, this would be cool... cuz sometimes there might be something special you want to post....that really doesn't require feedback.

(6) How about the ability to leave "private" or "personal" comments on a blog post? Included with that of course is the ability to "block" comments from certain or specific members. <<~~~~ Yep, this would be cool...

(7) "Most Recent Responses by Others", but most of the responses listed are comments made by me in response to other people's comments. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but within my own blog, I am not an 'Other', I am the originator of my drivel. Thus, my comments within my own blog should not show up in this list. <<~~~~ Yep...I rather see who left the last comment, not my handle.

( The ability to enter hyperlinks using [link][/link] syntax. If you're blogging about current events its polite to refer back to sources. <<~~~~Yes...because there are times I've read something on a blog and would want to be able to use a link to check it out...and then be able to return back to the blog.

(9) Ability to change/edit a comment after it has been posted. <<~~~~Yes...because there are times I've messed something up and being ever so anal about stuff like that, just drives me nuts. I do think that it's up to the blog host to delete a comment.

(10) Who put the 1 millionth post on the blogs and where is my free year's subscription for doing it? lol Contests-prizes-motivation--where are the fireworks/bells and whistles? <<~~~~ Once a week or once a month I think it would be cool if Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers chose a blog/blogger to "feature"...and not just one of the most popular of the blogs as in that damn list. Featuring the blog/comment of the millionth post would be too hard to keep up with as people do delete and/or hide a post or maybe someone has removed their entire blog...so the numbers would just fluxuate way too much.

(11) At the bottom of each page of comments there is the number of pages for that post, it would be nice if the number of pages of comments were at the top of each page also. That way you wouldn't have to scroll to the bottom of the page to change pages.<<~~~ Also, I think it would be nice to be able to create a list on the front page of our blog that will allow you to bookmark certain post's that you want to keep visible for one reason or another...instead of having to go thru all the work of creating an index post just to link to those posts...or other peoples post. I sometimes want to bring attention to someone elses post, without having to create a post.... if that makes sense.

(12) The new layout of author/blog title is harder to read than before. <<~~~~ it is very difficult to read.

(13) Being able to customize which sections (and in what layout) pop up in my blog would be nice. <<~~~~ Tag World has a pretty cool way to express yourself and create your blog to fit your personality. They use "modules"....that can be arranged in all sorts of manner...along with columns. Drag and drop.

(14) Audio music clips or videos <<~~~ Allow us to have 1 music clip that can be muted and/or turned off by the individual reader to a persons blog. IE: allow 1 clip that we can use as our "theme"....but not have it play automatically. Let each reader decide if they want to listen to the blog owners music....and/or video. I personally would prefer just music...with a limited library to choose from...like maybe 3 or 4 songs.

(15) kevnico<<~~~~I am mentioning this one cuz he does have a lot of valid points.

Make the blog owner take more responsibility for their blog

What I mean is that all comments on a particular blog should be placed into a queue for the blog owner to approve. This feature should resolve many outstanding requests, complaints, and problems, like:

1. The blog owner gets to see all new comments, thereby eliminating the need to provide additional links to all of the ‘new’ comments deep within a blog. No more complaining that they can’t find all new comments in their blog.

2. The owner can then make a reply to the comment that would immediately follow the comment, thus preventing the need for the subsequent viewers to scroll back to see the comment to which an owner replying. This could also reduce the amount of ‘quote’ usage, at least by the owner.

3. The blog owner gets to delete any abusive or derogatory comments before the entire world gets to see the offending remarks. Once the feature is up and running, much of the abuse in the blogs would come to a grinding halt since the abuser would have no audience before the blogger sees the comment, particularly since most abuser thrive on the exposure. Remove the exposure vehicle. I believe this would eliminate tons of feedback to Abuse and CSD since the blogger would be the only one that presents feedback, if desired, and most of that feedback would dwindle over time as the feature matures in usage. Additionally, if the blogger chooses to allow offending comments to be viewed by the public at large, then they really have no recourse to bitch and complain to CSD and Abuse for any ensuing commotion in blogland.

4. The blog owner can then become Parejas morbosas, liberales y swingers’s first line of defense on comment approval, if so desired by the site. This could free up thousands of site personnel man-hours currently wasted reading (or not reading) every flagged comment. Assume that if the blogger does not have a history of rules violation, then the blogger is capable of ensuring that the comments are appropriate. The current electronic review can still flag potential problematic comments to the blog owner for closer scrutiny. The owner can then decide if the rule is indeed violated. Additionally, (and this is not a necessary feature) it could be possible for the blog owner to censor a particular portion of the comment (clearly indicated as censored when published) or possibly(?) send the comment back to the originator for correction.
<<~~~~ I really like the idea of being able to be more in control....I think that in some cases it will eliminate hostility and harrassment....unless you want to have a heavier debate over an issue.

(16) Something else I would really like to see…maybe a premium member perk. I DO NOT LIKE the fact that I am listed as a lesbian. Nothing against them but if you search my screen name I show up on that site name. Also, as much as I enjoy being able to view the blogs without logging in, I don’t care for that kind of exposure.<<~~~~Big time DITTO...not to mention, I am also found under all sorts of bizarre catagories that isn't even remotely me....and I hope to hell not to have to ever need to explain it to someone like my mom or my daughter....or ??? anyone else of importance.

(17) Any additional artistic personalizing of blogs available could be nothing but good both from the bloggers' perspectives and the readers' perspectives. Increase interest=increase readership=increase traffic=increase business. <<~~>>and -the option to upload pictures on your blogs, aside from the little one at the side
-more choices of smilies
-maybe a template so each person has the option to create an atmosphere to their liking
-a friends list at the side for quick access and for others to access as well <<~~>>and~~>> think it would be fantastic to be able to have a feature where we could left/right justify or (more importantly) CENTER our words and/or pics! <<~~>>and~~>> would love to see us bloggers able to use the standard html for making tables, marquees, backgrounds and use of wallpapers as backgrounds too. <<~~~~I love these ideas...and since I spend 99.99% of the time in Blogland, would love to see how others personalize their blog. I think it would give more of us an insight to their personality. I know I would like to show more of my personality...other than just colored font and different sizes. Also, allow more font styles...for times when you want a certain post to reflect a certain mood.

(18 ) Regarding the "lists"....I think they should be random. Every time you refresh the page a new list is generated, or a few drop off like maybe 10-15 and replaced with 10-15 more. Same with the "slots". Personally, I would get a kick out of seeing my pic in the slots, I've been told others have seen it, but I haven't yet. But as far as the most popular list... I don't pay any attention to it ever. I do see it, but could give a rip whose on it and/or how high on the list they are. It doesn't influence what or who I read.

Thank you Andrew for allowing us all to have a chance and a place to share our opinions about the blogs.

To a great deal of us, Blogland is and has become a very important part of our individual lifes.... because many of us have found truly good/great people and have become friends that very well may last a life time....and some of us have even been able to find love. Not to mention the many, many times when someone has been going through a rough period in their life and really need someplace to pour out all those thoughts and/or feelings....and recieve the support that is often times shown unconditionally by the other bloggers.

Thanks for the improvements made thus far and also thanks in advance for the improvements yet to come.

-go back to a female/ male/couple list ( PRIORITY)

- expand the slots, smaller pics if you need to maybe double it?

-if your going to do polls, you may want to have a show/don't show votes, others...let you decide if you can choose one or more answers, post a picture, how long to keep it going, post results, etc...

_ like the edit your own posts on others, and preview posts on yours and others.

-like to change background, colors, personalize blog more.
_ like to be able to scroll through the vistors log on our blog, and recently posted by others.

_ instead of the other blogs people who read this liked- let us send bloggers to our favorite blogs...

_ have an index on blogs( not a post) where bloggers can link their favorite posts.

- be able to move our favorite watched list- shuffle it as we want too.

_show new posts on all pages, maybe a new post scroll to go too...

what is a super blogger??

Some of the most watched bloggers are not paying.

New suggestions regarding the polls....let them have their own 'home' like the blogs do and the advice lines (or magazine) - but allow people to create them and link to them from their blog.

BTW, I created this poll about whether the polls should have time limits....I don't know about anyone else, but I get tired of seeing the same polls on that list. I am sure it is because some people will vote on anything that is right in front of them; which would make that list rarely change, if ever.

Hopefully people will vote and express their opinions; perhaps you'll find the results interesting. This will probably be my last poll:

Thanks, again, for listening to your clientele.

bloggin on...and nodding...

some random thoughts...

- don't pit the "I pays " against the "I don'ts"...there is enough drama here in Blogland...(we don't need anymore Blog Wars).

_ Can you please make the deleted posts just stay deleted? ( a major annoyance and housekeeping task)

_Bloggers should be able to hide thier blog(like a profile) if they want/need a break- and then resume it whenever they come back.

Thanks for the seconds on the soapbox.

I have been thinking about something lol, at first I was all for being able to change your comments in another person's blog, on the surface sounds like a great idea. Especially for things like spelling mistakes etc. But there is potential problem with that.

If someone comes into your blog and makes a statement that lets say is not so flattering or nice. You respond to it, to correct them or debate an issue or whatever. If they then have the ability to change that orginal comment, then the words, their words that were orginaly there for all to see, can be removed by them. I am big believer in letting stand for all to see someone's comments good or bad as a record to how they conduct themselves. If we have the ability to change what we say in another's blog, those who post comments that are not well received can just go and change them and claim they never said them to begin with. See where I'm going with that?

So I have revised my stance on the issue of being able to change, or alter if you will, the comments I may place elsewhere besides my own blog. If I'm going to say it I guess I had better make darn sure that what I'm saying the first time, is the message I want to convey.

Any chance of adding the ability to see the 5 most recent people who added your blog to thier watch list?

fix the lag in post time to the time it shows as avaialble on the server for others to read. i posted a message at 7:09pm (EST) and at 10:30pm (EST) it still had not posted to the server for others to read. that is the first and most serious issue i would ask you to fix.

I do wonder if you would define the term "super-blogger" for us.

Thanks.

new features -
love the thing where it shows which posts are new
also like being able to go directly to pg 2 or 3
love being able to see the HISTORY of who's been by

still needs tweaking-
I'm ok with the poll thing BUT....
Poll posts shouldn't count in the total comments thing.

Thanks for your efforts!

Yeah, I'm still [blog 1hotwahine]

Don't know if it's to late to comment here. I'm new to blogging, so I'm still trying to feel my way around.

My thought, in the "my watched blogs" column, why put the blog you've just read on the top of the list? Why can't it go on the bottom and have the other's you haven't read move up one slot? Would make it much easier to read, especially if you are watching more than there is space for there and have to go to a second page to see them.

Sir
what is happening with the photos on each comment... nothing but silhoettes, at least on mine....sigh...

And the friends network...please check it out
I cant display the entire list.
and it wont let me edit (add or delete)...
that needs work .
also why do we have to add all of those requested
and then go back and delete the ones that you dont wish to have on your network.
Seems like something simple but I am sure it isnt.

Also....
Posting to my blog ...it took at least 2 hours on my last post, I gave up and went to bed. There was nothing questionable there...

I do appreciate and realize the scope of the work that is being done.

ohhhh ....one more thing...
maybe a hot list for things that arent working should be made.... Like right now the smilies icons are not coming up.

Take care.... Margaret

I have an issue I have held back from suggesting since I know it maybe just my own problem....

When I have a member that I want to ban, as from my email or from the views of my profile, because of some crude or vulgar statement ...why cant I merely delete their photo from my views list...instead of having to wait for 30 days, for4 it to cycle off...why cant that be included in the 'new listing' that you have for adding a person to your banned list.

I hope that is clear..lol~rolls eyes~
have a great week...

This has happened just recently and although I failed to report it, I felt like it may possibly be corrected without going through this whole reporting an issue ....again....

The option on my blog to list the last comment first is working fine, however the way it is listed on the "most recent comments by others" is not. It lists the first comment first....making it impossible to see who the last commenter was unless you open the post.
I hope this will be corrected as timely as possible.
~~~~
2nd issue:
at the bottom of the first page.... a list of the previous pages are usually listed, making it easy to scan back through the previous postings.
That list of pages is now gone???? what has happened...?????
To view a members previous pages one must jump through hoops to view the pages with a listing of posts.
This makes it EXTREMELY difficult for myself and others to see and review the blog posts in an manner that would make it easy to read the posts without choosing each individual post.
Please revert back to the previous option.
I posted a blog today, Penis Captivus- A funny Story!, at 8:22 and it never showed up in Recent Blog section for at least three hours and it showed up in my friends watch list at 11:22 and my friend commented on this issue on my blog post:
[note; I am not sure what is up today. Your post in my blog today took almost 3 hours to be visible to me (by the time date stamp of your post). And this post of yours just showed on my watched list. This sucks and is not fair to you).
So I say to you there is someone censuring my blog....this is not a normal time delay glitch. So my question to you is who are people censuring the blogs and comments? What are their motivations? Are they hired by you or they people who volunteer (well maybe they get free gold memberships)? I have noticed over the last month an increased delays to postings and photos are disappearing on the blogs. Thanks for your time in this matter.
P.S.
I asked for tech support help on their blog numerous times and they keep telling me it is a normal time delay issue.
